Churches Together in Southern Ryedale
Churches Together in Southern Ryedale exists as part of the mission of the Christian Churches in this attractive and largely rural area of North Yorkshire, centred on the market towns of Malton and Norton. It results from the Covenant signed by the participating churches in 2014
Our Statement of Purpose
Churches Together in Southern Ryedale (CTSR) exists to celebrate shared faith and to collaborate in sharing the love of God in Christ across our area.
Members include all denominations who are signatories to the Covenant.
The Covenant signed 19 January 2014
“...that all of them may be one, Father,
just as you are in me and I am in you.
May they also be in us so that the world
may believe...” (John 17: 21)
We declare our common belief as Christians in the love of God, the Lordship and saving grace of Jesus Christ and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. Rejoicing in our oneness in Christ and in the rich variety of our differing traditions and heritages we recognise that the unity we seek does not imply uniformity.
Therefore, we the members of:-
The Anglican Deanery of Southern Ryedale
The Ryedale Methodist Circuit
Elim Ryedale Church
Malton Baptist Church
The Malton Corps of the Salvation Army
St Leonard ’s Roman Catholic Church
Society of Friends (associate member)
covenant ourselves to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit into the unity which is Christ’s will and pray for the Church. We commit ourselves to sharing, serving, praying and witnessing together to the love of God for every human being, and to proclaiming the reconciling power of Jesus Christ in the world.
We further covenant to working out how that may be put into practice in our local communities.
