'Conversations’ is the title given to monthly ecumenical gatherings at Old Malton Priory for exploration of different aspects of Christian Spirituality. They are open to members of all churches or none. Each session will be led by a visiting speaker who will introduce and address a chosen subject before inviting conversation and discussion. Most sessions will include a time of prayer and space for personal reflection.

Each session is from 10am—12.30pm and will be held in the Church Community Centre on the second Saturday of each month. Coffee or tea will be provided mid-morning.

The next session will be on 11th February when The Rt. Revd. Alison White , the Bishop of Hull will lead a session entitled “Why pray?” .

'Conversations' is held on the second Saturday of each month 10am—12.30pm in Old Malton Priory Church Community Centre. Coffee or tea is provided mid-morning. As costs are incurred in use of the Community Centre, providing refreshments and meeting expenses of visiting speakers, St Mary’s  requests a donation at each session (£6 suggested). However, financial hardship should not restrict your attendance and involvement.

Ryedale Food Bank

We have around 30 referral agencies across Ryedale now ranging from CAB to Yorkshire Housing. We are still well supported by the generous giving of food by the people of Ryedale - arn which serves the local community.

As a project that unifies churches in Ryedale,we are proud that out of the 50 plus volunteers we have, around 11 churches &/or denominations are represented. If you ever want to visit one of our distribution centers or warehouse please let us know so that a visit can be arranged.

Our collection of items for simple home making stuff is still available but when the request comes for curtains, cutlery or kettles willing helpers are required to select, pack and deliver the goods. The requests are infrequent but usually urgent.

Christians in Ryedale have once again been very generous in the collection of goods and gifts and in time-giving to help make hampers up. Along with others in the Christian community we delivered 23 Hampers. A big 'Thank you' from the recipients and the Agencies who referred them.

Please pray for the survival of Besom in Ryedale.

Besom in Ryedale

The necessary core team that prays together and supports the action of giving from Christians has fallen to an all time low and is now not sufficient for an active group.  However, there are other ways to give through offering time, skills and money.  Through Besom's contact with professional agencies we can identify those in need.  If there is a bank of people willing to give their capabilities in simple ways, the connection can be made.

A Big Thank You

The A.G.M. on 31st January saw the retirement of  the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer of Churches Together in Southern Ryedale. Peter, Janice and Carol have worked long and hard to ensure that it is a lively organisation serving the Christian community around Malton and Norton.

Rev. Martin Allwood made a presentation to them at the meeting thanking them for their commitment and hard work.

Thank you Peter, Janice and Carol for all you have given us!
