Churches Together in Southern Ryedale

Regular Events.

Christmas Eve: On the morning of Christmas Eve we hold a series of short “drop-in” services of carols and readings along with coffee and mince pies at St Michael’s Church - the Church in the Market Place. These are led by different churches throughout the morning and serve as a reminder of the true meaning of Christmas to busy shoppers

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity: A United service is held at St Peter’s Norton on the final Sunday of the week of prayer for Christian Unity. Over the last two years it has been a “cafe-style” service and has taken place mid-afternoon to avoid clashing with the services of member churches.

Lent Lunches: At 12.00 noon on the Fridays of Lent the Baptist church hosts our simple lunches to raise money for Christian Aid. Previous lunches have supported their work in Sierra Leone providing food and water.  For reports on this wonderful work. click on the links.

Stations of the Cross: At 6.00 p.m. on Palm Sunday we join together for a simple meditative service reflecting on Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection at St. Leonard’s Catholic church.

Good Friday Witness:

At 10.45 a.m. on Good Friday we gather together for an act of worship and witness in the Market Place outside St Michael’s church to celebrate the events on which our belief is founded. Each year the event is designed and organised by one of the member churches.

This year’s event was organised by the Benefice of Malton and Old Malton.
